Retail Security Officer (Covert) – Hobart Tasmania

Are you observant, discreet, and able to identify risks before they escalate?

As a Covert Retail Security Officer, you will operate within the store environment without drawing attention, focusing on loss prevention, behavioural observation, and incident response. This role goes beyond traditional security - it’s about vigilance, intelligence, and protecting both people and assets while remaining unseen.

The Role

• Conduct covert surveillance to identify theft and suspicious behaviour

• Monitor foot traffic patterns and high-risk activity within the store

• Detect and respond to shoplifting and fraudulent activity

• Support store teams during incidents requiring discreet intervention

• Assist in gathering evidence and preparing incident reports

• Operate CCTV and other surveillance systems where required

• Liaise with store management and, when necessary, external authorities

• Maintain accurate and detailed daily shift and incident reports

• Ensure compliance with legal requirements and company procedures

What We’re Looking For

• Current Security Licence (as per state requirements)

• Current First Aid Certificate & CPR Certifications

• Previous experience in covert security or loss prevention

Desirable:

• Strong observational and behavioural analysis skills

• Experience using CCTV and incident reporting systems

• Ability to remain calm, professional, and discreet in dynamic environments
